Work in the community garden.
One of the ways Rooted desires to serve the Historic South End is by supporting existing, life-giving places and events in the neighborhood. The Thomas-Anderson Memorial Garden is one of those places. It was created to beautify the neighborhood, provide healthy food for all, unify people, and be a means to experience the outdoors.
During the summer and fall season, the HSE Association hosts weekly Saturday workdays from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Thomas-Anderson Memorial Garden. Lunch is served at noon and donuts are also available in the morning. Experienced volunteers will be at the garden and can direct you in what to do. Gardening tools are available for use, but you are welcome to bring your own.
