Mentor children through Cultivate.

Cultivate is our mentorship program at Holden Elementary School. This program helps young people prepare for adulthood by providing opportunities to develop the life skills necessary to reach their full potential. Every child who participates is matched with a mentor who will guide them through programming designed to help the child improve in skills such as: respect, listening, self-control, fairness, coping skills, kindness, and more.

We are currently recruiting mentors for the 2025-2026 school year. This year’s program will take place on Wednesdays from 3:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. If you’re interested in becoming a mentor, fill out our contact form below!

About Cultivate.

Students enrolled in Cultivate meet weekly for one hour after school with a mentor for twelve weeks.  Students first participate in classroom-style lessons and discuss the topic of the week with their mentor. Then, the following week, mentors reinforce that topic through hands-on activities with a senior buddy. The result of this process is that each student will have a greater confidence in their capacity to navigate relationships, school, interests, and work with success.

Research shows that the common factor in determining a child’s future success is if they have stable, committed, healthy relationships with adults in their lives. Through our mentorship program, Cultivate, mentors stand alongside parents, teachers, principals and counselors to invest character and life-skills into students and to ensure students know they are valued and loved. Through the power of relationships, children can build resilience and a brighter future.
